Trails of all kinds should enable all kinds of people to engage with and connect to landscapes, habitats and places in all kinds of ways, whether on a bike, a horse, on foot, in a wheelchair or in a buggy. But it is important that this is done in ways that are sympathetic to the landscape, land use, environment and habitat and Dafydd has developed a unique, holistic approach that enables trails to be developed in ways that are truly sustainable in the widest possible sense. His understanding of the impacts of trails, both positive and negative, is based upon nearly 20 years of working in this field. He has worked on projects within the UK and Ireland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Canada, Australia, Japan and Israel ranging from individual trail development projects to the development of policies and strategies for land management organisations. Dafydd has carried out feasibility studies, planned, assessed, audited, designed and built trails of all types in a wide variety of sites, terrain and ground conditions. These have included city parks, private estates, commercial forestry, quarries and ski resorts. During this time, he has developed an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to long term management of trails of all kinds within a wide variety of land uses. |
